Nikki Haley, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Governor of South Carolina, and former Republican presidential candidate, recently attracted criticism for writing “Finish Them!” on an Israeli artillery shell amid the continuation of the Israeli offensive in Gaza.
Since then, some social media users have unearthed a 2016 photo of actor Chris Evans, which played the role of Captain America in Marvel films.
“Chris Evans, aka Captain America,” reads above one image published June 1 on Facebook. It showed Evans signing something held by a man wearing a U.S. Air Force uniform. “While you sign petitions, he signs bombs.”

THE the image was taken in Turkey in December 2016 when Evans, among other celebrities, visited Incirlik Air Base as part of that year's USO tour.
In a May 31 Instagram story, Evans wrote, “There's a lot of misinformation surrounding this photo.”
“Some clarifications,” he continued. “This image was taken during a USO tour in 2016. I went with a group of actors, athletes and musicians to show my gratitude to our military. The item we asked me to sign is not a bomb, nor a missile, nor a weapon of any kind.”
The story has since expired, but The Hollywood Reporter reported Evans referred users to an Agence France-Presse article in February article in which a US Air Force spokesperson said Evans was signing a model of an artillery shell intended for training and not an actual explosive device.
