Star Trek actor dies in tribute to iconic artist after battle with cancer

Star Trek and Lethal Weapon actor Alan Scarfe has sadly passed away at the age of 77. The Hollywood star died on April 28 at his home in Quebec after a battle with colon cancer, his family announced.

Alan played two separate Romulan characters in Star Trek: The Next Generation and starred as Magistrate Augris in the episode Star Trek: Voyager. He was also known for his role in Lethal Weapon alongside Mel Gibson, and his features in Seven Days and Double Impact.

Beginning his career as a stage actor, Alan has performed in over 100 roles in theaters across Europe and has directed productions by playwrights including Shakespeare. The British-Canadian actor turned to writing later in life, winning an award in 2019 for his debut novel Jack the Ripper.

Alan was born in England and raised in Vancouver, before returning to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art from 1964 to 1966. He then pivoted his career from stage to film and moved to Los Angeles in 1989 with his family.

As the sad news broke, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their condolences and remember the star's incredible career.

The Hollywood star is survived by his children, including his daughter Antonia “Tosia” and his son-in-law Austin, who lived with and cared for the star until his death. He is also survived by his son, Jon Scarfe, who works in the same profession as his father.

Jon is known for his roles in blockbusters such as Van Helsing, Raising the Bar and the television series The 100. He is also survived by his brother Colin, his son Jonathan Scarfe and his grandchildren Kai and Hunter Scarfe.

The actor was married to fellow Star Trek actress Barbara March, who played Lursa on the series. Sadly, Barbara passed away in 2019 after a battle with cancer.
