Popular Kannada actor Darshan Thugadeepa was arrested by Bengaluru police in Kamakshipalya for his alleged connection with a murder case.
The 47-year-old was earlier taken into custody in connection with the murder of an individual identified as Renukaswamy of Karnatakas Chitradurga district, whose body was found on Sunday.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Renukaswamy had sent obscene messages to the actor's wife. Police are currently questioning more than 10 people. The CCTV was examined and the victim was identified as Renukaswamy of Chitradurga, Bengaluru police said.
Darshan was apprehended today from his farmhouse in Mysore and is being brought to Kamakshipalya police station in Bangalore for further investigation. Renuka Swamys' family is also on their way to the police station.
Police sources revealed that Renuka Swamy had harassed Pavithra Gowda, who is said to be close to Darshan. Following Pavithras' complaint, Darshan allegedly asked Vinay, an associate, to bring Renuka Swamy to Bengaluru.
Eight of the accused implicated Darshan, claiming his presence during the assault on Renuka Swamy. A log of wood was allegedly used to fatally injure the victim. The perpetrators intended to dispose of the body in Vrushabhavati Valley, but it was found trapped and handled by dogs. A complaint regarding an unidentified body was initially filed on June 8.
