911 call broadcast in double shooting involving mother and child on Turnpike near Hollywood – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) – As investigators continued their search for answers, a frantic 911 call was made regarding a man trying to help the mother and daughter.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, the mother, Beatrice Saintvil, was driving north on the Turnpike, just south of Hollywood Boulevard, when someone began shooting at her vehicle. Saintvil and her little Janelle, 4 years old, were shot.

On Friday, June 7, at approximately 11:50 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol advised that they responded to a report of a shooting. Once on scene, the Hollywood Fire Department also responded and transported the mother to a local hospital for treatment, where she later died. Janelle was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene, Caro said.

Saintvil called 911 after the shooting, but initially did not tell the operator that she and her daughter had been shot but in an accident.

On Tuesday, a 911 call came in regarding a man trying to help the mother and daughter.

Good morning! I'm greeting you, the caller said.

Hello, sir, the 911 operator said.

Get up! Get up! (Unintelligible) everything will be fine, the caller said.

Sir, are you heading north or south, the 911 operator said.

I, I, I'm going to Orlando. Please stand up ! Get up! Please stand up ! Where's the baby, where's the baby, the caller says.

OK, sir, tell me what happened, the 911 operator said.

BSO said that was the only call they received when Saintvil and Janelle were shot.

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, the caller said.

Sir, what happened, the 911 operator said.

I don't know (Unintelligible) I just came here and I see her with the baby in the car, please (Unintelligible). Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, the caller said.

At this time, it is unclear whether the man who called 911 saw the shooting or came upon the car after the incident. The man told dispatchers he had parked in front of the vehicle.

The caller keeps saying “Where's the baby” and “Get up, get up,” the dispatcher said.

The Florida Highway Patrol and BSO say it was not an accident but a double murder.

It appears to be gunshots. Pediatrician on site. Can you have the Hollywood Police respond to our location, a BSO officer said.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the reasons for this shooting.

It's one of those cases that really breaks your heart, said Claudinne Caro, spokeswoman for the Broward County Sheriff's Office. The detectives have more questions than answers.
