LuckyChap, Amblin and Bad Robot commit to providing health benefits to producers
Major production companies, including Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, Margot Robbie's LuckyChap and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot, have joined a Producers Guild of America initiative that will provide health care for content producers.
Announced on the heels of the Produced By Conference, an annual event hosted by the PGA, the newcomers join outlets like Blumhouse, Legendary, MACRO and Berlanti Productions – which previously promised to add budget items on shows and films which would finance these benefits for producers. for the first time.

The guild suggested that a starting rate of $3.33 per producer per hour be included in budgets and spent on a variety of plan options. This includes contributing to existing health funds and assisting with the purchase of third-party or open market health plans.
This is a historic demand from producers, following the painful strikes of writers and actors in Hollywood in 2023. Supported internally by PGA member Harvey Wilson and overseen by former directors Gail Berman and Lucy Fisher, the benefits have participant criteria.
The guild requires studios and streamers to offer health benefits only to qualified producers – with PGA-recognized credits, who work full-time on eligible projects – by making contributions through the pension and health plan of the film industry. Other producers who cannot access benefits through an existing industrial plan or collective agreement will also be able to purchase their own plans with the funds.
