Jonathan Majors to Receive Hollywood Perseverance Award Unlocked

The fourth annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards has announced its winners and will present Jonathan Majors with the Perseverance Award at its event in Los Angeles on June 21.

The award, according to the organization, is “given to an individual who has shown that no matter the adversity they face, they will continue to aspire to inspire.” This comes after Majors was found guilty of third-degree reckless assault and harassment in December. He was sentenced to a 52-week in-person domestic violence intervention program in April.

Majors has made a handful of public appearances in recent months – walking red carpets alongside girlfriend Meagan Good – but an awards acceptance speech will likely see the actor make rare public comments about the past year, with charges stemming from an incident with his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

In addition to the Majors, the event will reward designer Christian Louboutin with the Innovator Award, Cardi B with the Inspiration Award and legendary rapper Fat Joe with the Culture Award. Tiffany Haddish will host the show, which will be held at the Beverly Hilton, and additional awards will be presented to U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump, as well as rapper Da Brat and to his wife Jesseca Harris-Dupart.

The evening will also feature special performances from Fantasia Barrino, R&B singer-songwriter Lucky Daye, hip-hop artist Yellopain and gospel singer Karen Clark Sheard.

The Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, founded by Jason Lee, CEO and media personality of Hollywood Unlocked, highlights the contributions of recipients in the music, film, media, politics, social and creative industries to celebrate their achievements and contributions to the black community.

Previous Impact Award winners include Chlöe Bailey, Law Roach, Whoopi Goldberg, Babyface, Tupac, Catherine Brewton, Floyd Mayweather, Kelis, Karen Bass and Lizzo. The show will be pre-recorded and broadcast exclusively on The Zeus Network.
