Actor Darshan arrest case: New CCTV shows Renukaswamy car ferry before murder
New CCTV footage in connection with Renukaswamy's murder and the arrest of Kannada star Darshan Thoogudeepa and his wife emerged.
The video from a toll plaza in Chitradurga, Karnataka, showed a white car allegedly ferrying Renukaswamy (a Darshan fan) from Chitradurga to Bengaluru.
The accused allegedly kidnapped Renukaswamy on the pretext of arranging a meeting between him and the actor.
According to details, the car was rented.
Renukaswamy was first transported in an auto rickshaw and then shifted to a car.
Darshan and his wife Pavithra Gowda were arrested on June 11 in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, whose body was dumped in a storm drain in Kamakshipalya.
The incident came to light after a food delivery driver alerted police to dogs eating a man's body.
Later, on June 9, three accused approached the police and confessed to having murdered Renukaswamy following a financial dispute. As the investigation progressed, the police learned that the trio was trying to mislead the investigation and that Darshan and the gang were involved in it.
During investigation, the police team learned that Darshan allegedly offered the gang members Rs 30 lakh and agreed to take care of their families till they were released from jail.
So far, 16 people have been arrested in the case, including Darshan and Pavithra.
Earlier, police sources had told news agency PTI that Darshan's assistant Nagaraj was handling all the actor's dealings. He also looked after the Darshan farm in Mysuru.
Nagaraj was on the run since the police arrested Darshan and others involved in the case.
The sources did not disclose details about his co-star Pradosh's role in the murder.
Pradosh had appeared in minor roles in some films in which Darshan was the lead actor.
