While sharing the news, he wrote, “Punjabi aa gaye oyee! » This was not the first time Diljit said or wrote this line. Although this particular phrase made many of his fans wonder why the Crew actor says Punjab not India, Diljit seems to have finally answered the question.

During a podcast with Raj Shamani, Diljit Dosanjh was asked why he chose to represent Punjab and not India specifically on stage so proudly. The singer-actor said, “Punjab is a small part of India and I come from a very small state where regional music is made. Previously, regional music was not so grand, but now it is global. So the feeling you get when you come from a small town is different. At the Indian level, there are very great artists. I can't sing as well as Sonu Nigam. Regional music came to Coachella from India, which is why I feel like I've gone from a small place to a big place today.
Diljit added, “When I had gone to Coachella, a friend of mine had told me that 'you don't realize this was the first time Punjabi was spoken on the world stage.' This thought stuck in my mind and it automatically came out on stage, I didn't say it consciously.
During the interaction, Diljit Dosanjh also revealed how he found it difficult to create songs in Hindi. In fact, her song 'Naina' in Crew also came after a serious follow-up from producer Rhea Kapoor. “It’s not like I sing songs in Hindi and all of India listens to me. I have always spoken Punjabi, but thanks to Hindi films, I started speaking in Hindi. I can't do Hindi songs on my own, even 'Naina' in Crew happened because Rhea Kapoor forced me to do it, otherwise I can't do Hindi songs. I told her that I couldn't do songs for Bollywood, that I didn't know how to do it, but she pursued me for a year. That time, I was working on an album and she asked me every 10 days where the song was. She made this song through me.
Diljit Dosanjh is currently gearing up for the release of his Punjabi film Jatt & Juliet 3. The film also stars Neeru Bajwa and will release on June 27.
