Movies on Lane prepares for seventh season in Blissfield

BLISS FIELD A must-see summer event in Blissfield launches its seventh season today as guests are encouraged to bring their chairs and blankets to downtown Blissfield for Movies about Lanea free event sponsored by Blissfield Downtown Development Authority (DDA)/Main Street.

Lane films are held monthly during the summer in June, July and August, on the third Thursday of the month. All events coinciding with Movies on Lane take place along South Lane Street in Blissfield's downtown business district.

The monthly program is described by Blissfield DDA/Main Street as a free event in a location where children can move safely from activity to activity, and where big kids at heart can have family fun before the beginning of the film at sunset.

The films start at dusk and are shown on a giant inflatable screen directly on South Lane Street.

Today's movie will be Disney's Lilo and Stitch.

Each evening, before the film begins, entertainment, dining and movie activities will take place on Lane Street starting at 6:30 p.m., Emilie Mullins, president of Movies on Lane, said in a statement.

Refreshments from the Girl Scouts, Little League softball teams and Blissfield High School Class of 2026 will be provided. There will also be a food truck each month. Junes food trucks include Papa Joe's Grub N Go and Frozen Paradice. Downtown businesses will benefit from extended shopping hours, as well as deals and discounts.
