Filmmaker Karan Johar Revealed the Origin Story of His Netflix Series The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives and how it all started with him and the main stars of the series… Bhavana PandayMaheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari Soni and Seema Sajdeh – on their way to a funeral.
In an interview with Sucharita, the filmmaker says he was shocked to hear the women discussing their funeral wardrobe, which is when he thought their energy and camaraderie needed to be captured for a show .
“It all started with me and the four women on our way to a funeral. We were on a plane and they were literally discussing what whey they were wearing and what type of salwar kameez! Maheep was too bling and she was trying to justify herself, the other was too sober. I was like, “Someone died, we’re going to their funeral and you’re discussing your outfits?!” Does anyone care! “I thought I had to do a show with these four women,” he said.
The reality show, which follows the personal and professional lives of the four Bollywood wives, first premiered in 2020 and was immediately called a “cringe binge.” Johar, who produced the series, said he was aware of the type of entertainment provided by The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives and was “proud” of it.
“When people say, 'We hated it but couldn't stop watching it,' I feel like the job is done! We have the third season coming up and I know it will be the best season. I was watching it on my flight because they were sending me the rushes and I was laughing so hard! Everyone thought I was watching a comedy, but I couldn't believe these women were all so fantastic! »
THE third season of the show The show gained momentum with Neetu Kapoor's daughter and Ranbir Kapoor's sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni joining the show with two new brides from Delhi. Philanthropist Shalini Passi, wife of PASCO Group Chairman Sanjay Passi, and entrepreneur Kalyani Saha Chawla will join the veterans of the show.
The third season of the show will feature a Delhi-Mumbai rivalry and is expected to air later this year.
