Musician Jill Felber Joins Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors | Arts and entertainment

Jill Felber, internationally renowned recording artist and professor of music at UC Santa Barbara, has joined the board of directors of the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation.

The Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports classical music education in Santa Barbara County through scholarships and grants.

Felber is a flute recitalist, chamber musician, contemporary music scholar, and professor of flute in the UCSB Woodwind, Brass and Percussion program in the Department of Music.

Performing solo recitals, chamber music and concertos on five continents, Felber has held residencies in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, Mexico, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Italy, Canada, Brazil and the United States.

She promotes new music and has inspired many composers to write solo and chamber works for her and her flute duo ZAWA!

Felber is known for her inspiring and motivating teaching style. She won UCSB's Distinguished Teaching Award and has traveled the country presenting flute seminars and conducting fusions of classical and non-classical melodies at conventions, flute societies, and universities.

She holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Bowling Green State University and has taught on the faculties of Ohio University, Capital University, and Wright State University.

Other board members include Deborah Bertling, Erin Bonski-Evans, Rosalind Amorteguy Fendon, Ronald D. Fendon, David T. McKee, Kristine Pacheco-Bernt, Barbara H. Burger, Dr. Marjorie Gies, Peter G. Bertling, Neil DiMaggio and Noel. Lucky-Ris. All board members have a long history of service to the Santa Barbara community and the performing arts.
Established in 1982, the foundation organizes an annual music competition that encourages young musicians to strive for excellence and supports them in their growth as performers.

The organization has supported hundreds of students through competitions and incentive scholarships totaling up to $35,000 per year.
