Shanthi Priya Regrets Quitting Bollywood After Marriage, Advises 'Chodhna Mat Industry Ko..'

Shanthi Priya is known for starring in Tamil and Telugu films in the 80s. The actress entered the Hindi film industry by starring alongside Akshay Kumar in his debut film, Saugandhin 1991. Despite starring in several hit films, the actress decided to retire from acting. She took this crucial decision after marrying actor Siddharth Ray. The actress recently gave an interview to Bollywood Bubble and shared her views on the same.

Shanthi Priya advises newcomers not to leave the industry

Shanthi Priya left the glitzy industry after taking her vows in 1992. The actress intended to focus on her family rather than her work. However, the actress now regrets her decision over time. At the same time, she spoke about the various challenges she faced in making a comeback after a long time. Drawing on her experience, Shanthi advises newcomers not to quit the industry. She reportedly said:

“I still think I shouldn’t have left Bollywood. Because I felt like I didn't value my work. I see my return now, as I do, which I never did when I was a newcomer. So my advice to all the freshers who are getting married but not leaving the industry is that if you want to leave the industry, think twice. »

Shanthi recalls that Akshay Kumar was a prankster since his early days

Shanthi made her debut in the Hindi film industry, starring opposite Akshay Kumar in her debut film, SaugandhShe was filming for her movie, Vishwamitra when he was offered a three-film deal in Bollywood. Recalling his experience working with the Good news Actor Shanthi said that the actor was having a lot of fun. For the uninitiated, Akshay Kumar is known to be a prankster in Bollywood, and his co-stars often share their anecdotes in interviews. Shanthi revealed that she hasn't met the star in recent times. She said:

“He was like that from the first day, very mastikhor. I can tell you that he changed from the first shift to the second shift. In the first shift, he was very calm and thought he was just new. But he was very funny and I can testify to that. I spoke to him a few years ago, but I haven't spoken to him or met him recently.”

Shanthi revealed that actresses didn't get enough work after their marriage in the 80s

Shanthi Priya entered the world of acting in her late teens. The actress was famous and was offered several Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films simultaneously. She married in her twenties and had children. But her husband died in 2004 following a heart attack. The actress revealed that she left the industry because she was in love and actresses didn't get much work after marriage at that time. In her interview with Hindustan Times, she recalled:

“I was in love and in a fog, all I wanted was to get married. But back then, actresses couldn’t find enough work after marriage. Today, it’s different, and I’m glad it’s changed. Content is king now.”

Shanti Priya is excited about her upcoming job

Gradually, Shanthi Priya made her comeback in the industry. She worked on a Tamil project produced by Vetrimaaran. At the same time, she is also working on the second season of MX Player Dharavi Bank. Shanthi plans to work on challenging roles and is eager for the audience to see her work.
