The long-awaited mega-budget epic, Kalki 2898 ADis living up to expectations with its box office performance. After opening at Rs. 22.50 crore on a working Thursday, the film has shown excellent collections on its 2nd day. As per initial estimates, Kalki 2898 AD collected in the range of Rs. 19.50 crore to 20.50 crore on Friday, taking the total two-day collection to Rs. 42.50 million.

The film continues to perform well in all cinemas, whether in multiplexes or on individual screens, and this stability is a sign of a long period of theatrical exploitation. The drop is less than 10% in all theaters, which is a positive sign because it was possible that it would also be larger.

Any number upwards of Rs. 16 crore would have been a good result, but Rs. 20 crore on Friday is excellent and sets the film up well for the jump to Saturday and Sunday. There is the India vs South Africa World Cup final on Saturday, and that might hamper the evening and night shows business, but still the film has enough fuel in its tank to surpass the opening day figure.

There is an outside chance for Kalki 2898 AD to reach the Rs. 95 crore mark over the four-day extended weekend, but it all depends on the magnitude of collections on Saturday.
