Damin Alczar – IMDb
Damin Alczar studied theater first at the National Institute of Fine Arts and the Theater Experimentation Center, then at the Faculty of Theater of the University of Veracruz, where he would later work as a professor.
He was an actor for eight years in two theater companies, alongside the most prestigious directors in Mexico. Under the guest direction of George Labaudan, he appeared on Jean Genet's balcony.
He has appeared in six foreign films and more than twenty-eight Mexican films. He received the Ariel for best actor in 1999 and 2004 for the films Under California: The Time Limit, by Carlos Bolado, and Crnicas, by Sebastin Cordero. He also won the Best Actor Award at the Valladolid Festival (Spain), for the latter.
He received the Ariel for Best Supporting Actor for Ernesto Rimoch's El anzuelo; for Lolo, Francisco Athi, and for Carlos Carrera's hit, The Crime of Padre Amaro. Damin has been nominated for the same award four other times. He won the Best Actor award at the Cartagena Film Festival (Colombia) for the film Two Crimes, by Roberto Sneider.
He has also worked on telenovelas, including the most recent Secretos del corazón, produced by Epigmenio Ibarra for TV Azteca.
In April 2013 he received the Honorary Prize at the Latin American Cinema Fair of Lleida with José Coronado. Since June 2016, he has been an elected deputy for Morena in the Constitutional Assembly of Mexico City.
