Veteran actor Olu Jacobs' family dispels death rumours

The family of Nigerian movie icon Olu Jacobs has confirmed that he is alive, following rumours he died on Sunday.

Jacobs' wife and industry colleague, Silva Jokeresponded to the rumors on social media, saying her husband was fine.

The veteran actor, whose career spans more than five decades, is celebrated for his versatility in television and film.

He is widely regarded as one of the pillars of Nollywood and has appeared in over 200 films and numerous television productions.

Born on July 11, 1942, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Jacobs studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.

His acting career began in the United Kingdom, where he starred in various British television shows and films before returning to Nigeria in the late 1980s.

His return marked the beginning of a prolific career in Nollywood, quickly making him a household name.

Notable films include: “War Dogs” (1980), “Pirates” (1986), “Beauty and the Beast” (2008) and “21 Days with Christ” (2005).

Jacobs has been battling dementia for years and his wife, Joke, has supported him through those difficult years.
