Frank West's voice actor was not invited back for Dead Rising remaster

Capcom has chosen to go in a different direction with its new version of Dead Rising.

The original voice actor behind the character Frank West, Terence J. Rotolo, has said that Capcom did not ask him to reprise the role again in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Frank West is generally considered the most popular character in the Dead Rising franchise. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster was surprisingly announced last week, fans were quick to notice that the famous protagonist had a different look and voice compared to his previous appearances. Now, Rotolo has shed more light on why he is not attached to the project.

In a conversation shared by @FrankByDaylight On X (formerly Twitter), Rotolo recently responded to a fan's question about why he wouldn't play Frank West in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Rotolo explained that the reason was quite simple: Capcom producers never asked him to play the character again. Rotolo then pointed out that he had always loved playing Frank West and that he had a lot of affection for the Dead Rising community. Despite this, Capcom producers never called him.

“I don’t have an answer to your question,” Rotolo said. “All I can say is that I’ve always been grateful to have been able to bring Frank to life. An actor’s job when they’re asked to come in is to prepare, do their best work, and when they’re done, move on to the next assignment. I just wasn’t called for that assignment. The reasons are up to the producers.”

For now, details on Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster remain uneven. Aside from the game's initial reveal trailer, Capcom has said very little about what this new version of Death resurrected will result. This will be the second reissue of Death resurrected after the action game was previously remastered for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. As such, Deluxe Remaster It seems like this could be a full-fledged remake, which is perhaps why Capcom didn't seek to cast Rotolo as Frank West again.
