Mrunal Thakur started her career in Bollywood but rose to fame with the Telugu films Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna. The actress won hearts with her magical performance in Sita Ramam, which is considered a classic by many. She recently appeared in a cameo in Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD.

The actress has now been roped in to play the female lead in the Bollywood film Son of Sardaar 2. Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt played the protagonist and antagonist in Son of Sardaar, and they will also feature in this sequel. However, Sonakshi Sinha, who played the lead actress in the first installment, will not be a part of Son of Sardaar 2, and Mrunal Thakur will be replacing her. For those who don't know, Son of Sardaar is the official remake of SS Rajamouli's Maryada Ramanna.

While there was no sequel to the original, the makers of Son of Sardaar have developed a script for the second part, which they believe will impress movie buffs. Reportedly, the sequel will have a new story and will not start from where the first part ended. Punjabi filmmaker Vijay Kumar Arora will direct Son of Sardaar 2. The shooting will begin soon in Scotland.
