Fawad Khan is reportedly making a comeback to Bollywood

Fawad Khan Fans, rejoice! The Pakistani heartthrob is back on Indian screens. The actor has reportedly signed a Bollywood project, much to the delight of the audience.

According to a report by Deadline, Fawad will soon be making his Bollywood comeback in a romantic comedy opposite Vaani Kapoor. It will tell the story of two broken people who meet due to destiny and end up becoming each other's support, and eventually fall in love.

The project in question is currently in pre-production phase and will soon go on the sets. The entire shoot will be done in London. The film will be directed by Aarti Bagdi and produced in collaboration with Eastwood Studios and Devang Dholakia.

Fawad made his acting debut in a Pakistani television sitcom Jutt and Bond in 2001. He then moved to cinema with his first feature film For God's sake in 2007. Fawad eventually became the most popular actor on Pakistani television with hit shows like Daastan (2010), Humsafar (2011) and Zindagi Gulzar Hai (2012).

Fawad Khan's Bollywood Past

The 42-year-old came to Bollywood, making his Hindi film debut with Beautiful (2015) alongside Sonam Kapoor. His fan base on both sides of the border grew manifold. He then went on to direct another Bollywood blockbuster film Kapoor and sons in 2016. His extended cameo in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil The same year, he was expected to consolidate his career in Bollywood.

Fawad, however, had to return after tensions escalated at the border between the two nations following the Uri attack in 2016. Other artists who have dropped out of their Indian projects include Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar and musicians like Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Ban on Pakistani artists entering India lifted

Last year, the Bombay High Court had dismissed a petition seeking to ban Pakistani artistes from performing or working in India. The decision has reopened the doors for Pakistani actors to take part in Bollywood projects.

In the meantime, Fawad is currently awaiting the release of a web series titled Bazrakh in front of his Zindagi Gulzar Hai co-star Sanam Saeed. The Pakistani star has also been seen in The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022) and Ms. Marvel (2022).

If Fawad Khan's return to Bollywood with this film happens, it would be his return to Hindi cinema after eight years.
