Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, who last appeared in a Hindi film in 2016, is reportedly set to make a comeback in Bollywood after eight years. According to a report in Filmfare, Fawad will be making his comeback in the Hindi film industry alongside Vaani Kapoor in a film that will begin production soon. According to the report, the shooting of the project will begin in London. However, details about the other actors have been kept under wraps by its makers.
The upcoming romantic comedy will revolve around two broken people, who are brought together by fate and end up helping each other unintentionally. The film is slated to hit the theatres in September this year and the filming is expected to be completed by November.
Fawad Khan made his Bollywood debut with Sonam Kapoor's Khoobsurat in 2014. Later, he starred in two major projects of Karan Johar-directed Dharma Productions, Kapoor & Sons and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. If reports are to be believed, filmmaker Karan Johar has also signed Fawad for several other Dharma projects, including films alongside Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif. A film alongside Salman Khan was also reportedly in the pipeline. But all these projects were shelved soon after the Uri terror attack.
In 2023, the Bombay High Court dismissed the petition seeking a ban on Indian filmmakers casting Pakistani artists and said that “patriotism is about devotion to the motherland, not enmity towards others,” according to a Live Law report. The bench of Justices Sunil B Shukre and Firdosh P Pooniwalla held that the petition lacked merit and observed that the Indian government had taken a positive step in promoting international peace and security.
