The upcoming Bollywood film Kill is getting a Hollywood remake. Chad Stahelski, director of John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves, and his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, are set to produce the remake. The announcement comes ahead of the release of the original Hindi film Kill, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, Variety reports. The film is slated to release on July 4.
According to Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions, this weekend's theatrical release marks one of the first times a mainstream Hindi-language film has partnered with a Hollywood studio for a theatrical release in North America and the United Kingdom. According to Variety, Chad said in a statement, “Kill is one of the liveliest, wildest and most creative action films I've seen in recent memory. Nikhil delivers relentless action sequences that need to be seen by as wide an audience as possible. It's exciting to be developing an English-language version – we have big shoes to fill and I look forward to working with Nikhil, Karan, Apoorva, Guneet and Achin to make it happen.”
In the film, a commando named Amrit (Lakshya) discovers that his mistress Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) is engaged against his will. He boards a train to New Delhi to derail the arranged marriage and reunite with his true love. However, his journey takes a turn when a gang of knife-wielding robbers starts terrorizing the innocent passengers on the train, prompting Amrit to take them upon himself and save the others.
