Veteran Sopranos actor returns to Windsor with 'brilliant' musical show

A veteran American actor and singer, known for his roles in The Sopranos and The Godfather, will share his life story at the Old Court in Windsor this Friday (July 5).

Best known for his Emmy-nominated role as Corrado Uncle Junior Soprano on the hit HBO drama series, Dominic Chianese has spent more than 60 years on stage and screen.

The 93-year-old will return to the Windsor Auditorium for his two-hour show How I Became a Soprano in Words and Music.

He said: As a singer on the musical stage and as an actor in comedy and drama, I have been trained over the last 70 years to learn the craft.

I take theatre and the entertainment world very seriously and I hope for the future that this new world of virtual reality will not encroach on the aesthetic beauty of the arts that I have seen in my lifetime.

Artists need to remember that whether you're building a bridge, writing a symphony or learning to tango, education is not about encyclopaedic knowledge, knowing the facts and the date of Magna Carta, but about putting it all together and, OK, Dominic, get off your soapbox. Save it for the stories and songs that you'll hopefully sing on the local stage.

Of course, I will name the people who have inspired me over the years and helped me become the best artist I could be. Acting is acting. Serving a community, anywhere in the world, requires courage, knowledge, and good intentions.

He said he plans to sing in concert halls, wherever I can find an audience, including Windsor on July 5 and Egham on July 27.

The show will feature a guitar and piano-accompanied program with stories and songs about how he became a television celebrity with David Chase's script, The Sopranos.
