Bollywood Actor Rama Mehra Spots Smuggled Bird of Paradise

Bollywood actor Raama Mehra (56) was caught smuggling two birds of paradise and an otter in a suitcase. He wanted to bring the rare animal to India via Soekarno-Hatta airport.

His actions were discovered by airport officials who checked his suitcase using footage. X-ray. The two birds of paradise were placed in a rattan cage measuring approximately 40 x 50 cm and 30 x 10 cm. Meanwhile, the albino otters were placed in plastic cages measuring approximately 40 x 50 cm.

The three rare animals are now in the care of the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA). Two birds and an albino otter are pictured alive.

There is a little yellow bird of paradise (Minor Paradise), then a black, bald Papuan bird of paradise (Republic), and an albino small-clawed otter (Aonyx cinereus).

Acting Head of BKSDA Region 2 Conservation Section Adam Mustofa said the bird of paradise is a protected animal. Cenderawasih cannot be conserved with negligence.

“The bird of paradise is still a rare animal that requires presidential permission to obtain a license, it has the same rare status as Komodo dragons, Sumatran tigers, rhinos, gibbons.
