Munjya Actor Abhay Verma Reveals He Opted Out of Zoya Akhtar's The Archies. Here's Why

Abhay Verma, who is in the limelight for starring in the horror comedy I go, recently revealed on a podcast show that he auditioned for Zoya Akhtar The Archies and he chose to let it pass during the movie Safereported IANS. He told the Digital Commentary podcast: “The Archies and Safed were both happening at the same time. I chose Safed over the Archies. I was The Archies but I really wanted to do it Safequoted IANS. The actor said: “I had auditioned for The Archiesand had met Zoya. But, Safe “ka ho hi gaya tha toh I decided to go for the last option (I had Safed so I decided to go for it).”

For the uninitiated, Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor made their big debuts with The Archies last year. It was released on streaming giant Netflix. SafeAbhay played the role of a transgender. Safe is directed and produced by Sandeep Singh. It stars Meera Chopra, Abhay Verma, Barkha Bisht and Jameel Khan.

Abhay Verma also shared that he was supposed to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Gangubai Kathiawadi. He said, “I wish I could do this film but I had another project at that time. But a few days after I couldn't do Gangubai Kathiawadi, I met Alia (Bhatt) for a brand shoot. Just a few days ago, I had met Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Gangubai Kathiawadi,” news agency IANS reported.

In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Abhay recalled that he met Varun Dhawan at the success party of Munjya. Sharing Varun's excitement about the film, he said, “Varun is a gentleman and very supportive. He told me that out of everyone (in this generation of actors), he wanted me to work a lot because he believed I could change things for the better. The way he hugged me and said those things, it was like I was a part of the family, a family that I wanted to be a part of.” Varun Dhawan starred in Bhediya, another film from Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe.

Abhay Verma made his debut with Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 as a junior artist. He has acted in films like Safed, Ae Watan Mere Watan. He has appeared in web shows like Little Things, The Family Man, Marzi.
