IATSE Reaches Tentative Agreement on Regional Standards Contract, Avoiding Another National Strike in Hollywood

Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) won major victories last week with the announcement of interim agreements (TAs) on all issues relating to the Regional Standards Agreement (ASA) and the Basic Agreement.
The latest agreement between IATSE and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for studios and streamers means that, if members vote to ratify, it will prevent another summer of strikes in Hollywood.
The TA base agreement comes after more than three months of negotiations and includes provisions such as a seven percent minimum wage increase in the first year, followed by four percent and 3.5 percent increases, matching the terms SAG-AFTRA reached last fall.
Other notable victories include increased overtime pay, new protections around artificial intelligence (AI) and more.
The ASA TA was announced on June 27 and came after two days of discussions.
The contract includes identical provisions, such as the same tiered wage increases and improved overtime pay, as in the base agreement, as well as victories like the addition of the Juneteenth holiday and improved bereavement leave.
The remaining negotiations in Hollywood that must be resolved before the July 31 contract expiration date are the AMPTP contract talks with the Teamsters.
