Twisters actor Glen Powell's dog Brisket is named perfectly

Actor Glen Powell has quickly become one of Texas' most recognizable actors for good reason: he's charming, talented, and down-to-earth. It doesn't hurt that he's extremely handsome, either. But truth be told, it's his adopted dog, Brisket, who's been stealing the show lately, as the actor has been bringing his canine companion along to press events and premieres for his new film, Tornadoesreleased this week.

Everyone knows (or at least they should) that the best names for pets are food names. And it makes sense that the Austin-born and raised actor named his dog after Texas' favorite smoked meat. Powell even came back to town because it is a very dog-friendly place.

Powell adopted Brisket, a terrier and poodle mix, from the Los Angeles Animal Rescue organization the Labelle Foundation in July 2023. This was when he was filming the sequel to the 1996 film Tornado in Oklahoma and is going through a breakup, as he sharing with Weekly Entertainment. Powell created an Instagram account, aptly named @hotbrisketwhere he shares cute pictures of the puppy and lots of funny captions.

It's obvious that Powell loves Brisket. The puppy immediately has become part of the Tornadoes On set, he often posts photos (some shirtless, some just adorable) with his furry friend, and they even have matching cowboy hats. Brisket was such a big part of the crew that he attended the film's Los Angeles premiere while being carried by his owner, living that sweet pet life. But Powell also loves brisket (though he's more of a rib person). “You guys really do have the best barbecue in Austin,” he said of Franklin Barbecue in a video shot at South Congress restaurant Toasty Badger for Netflix while promoting another of his films, Hitman (made by also-Austinite Richard Linklater).
