Hollywood legend Shirley MacLaine, 90, makes rare outing in Malibu

A legend walks among us.

Shirley MacLaine90, made a rare public appearance in Malibu on Sunday.

The Hollywood icon had lunch at Kristys Village Cafe, where she also visited The 4th of July.

MacLaine was wearing a blue shirt with a zip-up jacket, black pants and red shoes. She was also wearing glasses and carrying a small black purse.

A young man accompanying MacLaine let the actress hold his arm as they exited.

MacLaine went to lunch at the same restaurant with a friend earlier this month.

The Steel Magnolias star wore a purple T-shirt, a black hoodie, gray pants and a light blue visor that day.

MacLaine turned 90 on April 24.

She said People as she celebrated her milestone birthday with an intimate dinner with friends.

We'll meet up and I hope to eat something good, she said.

A month earlier, MacLaine had spoken of How Hollywood Changed in an interview with Extras Billy Bush.

The charms are gone, I'm afraid. I think it's completely different, she said. It's 100% different.

Asked if the lack of privacy enjoyed by celebrities today bothers her, MacLaine said, “It's okay. I'm pretty open anyway and I don't have much to hide.”

MacLaine's last film was the dark comedy American Dreamer, released in 2022. The film followed MacLaine as a lonely widow trying to decide whether to sell her estate to a professor, played by a Game of Thrones alum. Peter Dinklage.

In an interview with The Post, MacLaine said the film's script seemed like an interesting take on reality. She also said she wanted to work with Dinklage, 55.

The Oscar-winning actress, who won best actress for the 1983 comedy-drama Love, revealed that after filming American Dreamer she took refuge alone because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I came to the mountains of New Mexico and saw almost no one for a year. [due to the COVID-19 pandemic] and it was an interesting experience, she said. I realized that when I started talking to myself, I thought I better go out and wear a mask.

“I think it’s a good thing to reconnect with what many of us have lost,” she added. “A sense of who we are fundamentally and centrally, even with everything that’s going on in our businesses and our social lives.”
