Air conditioning unit repaired after residents move out of Hollywood senior living facility – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports
HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) – Hours after several residents were relocated from a Hollywood assisted living facility after an air conditioner was damaged, the building's main air conditioning unit has been repaired.
Hollywood police and firefighters responded to Presidential Place, located at 3880 S. Circle Drive, Tuesday afternoon.
7Skyforce flew over the scene, where residents were seen boarding buses. In the facility's air conditioning cooling area, one of the fan blades was not rotating.
Some residents were taken to local restaurants, while others were moved to different parts of the facility with working air conditioning while crews worked on the faulty HVAC system.
No injuries were reported.
According to the company responsible for the facility, a neighboring community used its bus to deliver fans to the facility.
The owners of the Presidential Palace issued the following statement:
Presidential Place has experienced some challenges with our HVAC system due to a recent power outage. We quickly engaged our HVAC company to begin repairs that are currently underway. While these are being completed, we have installed portable air conditioning units for our residents. We have also provided residents with the opportunity to utilize key areas of our community to stay cool while the permanent HVAC system is repaired and temporary air conditioning units are being set up. We will continue to share updates with our residents as this work is completed.

Broward County Emergency Management was on scene to ensure everything was handled properly to avoid a situation similar to what happened at the Hollywood Hills Rehabilitation Center in September 2017.
After Hurricane Irma, eight people died at the facility after a power outage.
Residents began returning to the facility after these repairs.
