Mindy Cohn Claims Her 'Greedy' Facts of Life Co-Star Sabotaged TV Series Reboot

According to THE Facts of life Star Mindy Cohn, a “greedy bitch” from the original cast, sabotaged a potential reboot of the beloved '80s sitcom.

The veteran actress, who is enjoying a moment of fame thanks to a role in the Emmy-nominated series Royal palmaddressed the alleged betrayal during an appearance on SiriusXM Jeff Lewis Live this week. The anecdote began when Cohn reminded hosts Lewis, Michael Hitchcock and Shane Douglas that the show had recently been resurrected as one of Norman Lear and Jimmy Kimmel's series specials Live in front of a studio audience.

“They made one of the Different shots And Facts of life and after that, Norman Lear, who's no longer with us, when he was still alive, called us all up and said, “I knew you guys were still popular, but gee. The live response.” And basically there was this roundtable with Octavia Spencer, Amy Poehler, and Jennifer Aniston where they all said, “Yeah, our parents grew up with All in the familybut we grew up with it Facts of life“It’s the Norman Lear sitcom that we love,” Cohn said of the special that aired Dec. 7, 2021. “And I think Norman didn’t really get that. So when he did, he said, ‘Are you interested?’ And we had never really talked about it, but we all started thinking about it a little bit.”

Those discussions, which took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, saw original cast members connect on Zoom, hire a screenwriter and have meetings with Lear, according to Cohn. The facts of lifeCreated by Dick Clair, Howard Leeds and Jerry Mayer, it aired from 1979 to 1988. It followed Mrs. Edna Garrett, played by Charlotte Rae, the principal of Eastland School, as she teaches a group of teenage girls, played by Cohn, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields and Nancy McKeon, among others, how to solve problems and navigate life.

Lewis then asked what happened. “What happened was not cute,” Cohn said, opening the door to tell the story. “There was drama.”

Cohn later claimed that one of her cast mates “betrayed us” and tried to make a separate deal for a spin-off “just for her.” The betrayal devastated the rest of the cast, she said. “I'm just saying it was for a 40-year friendship and sisterhood, there was a tidal wave of emotion around it,” she noted, to which Hitchcock joked, “There's always a greedy bitch.”

Cohn then confirmed the remark: “You know what, Michael Hitchcock? You greedy bitch. I'll say it.”

The fact that the potential reboot of the series was opposed by one of the actresses caused a dispute, but Cohn confirmed that the ice has melted a little. [speak] for a while and now we do, but there's definitely… it was an ouch.

The pain, however, appears to have caused permanent injuries that cannot be healed. Cohn said the potential reboot is “very dead” and there is little desire for them to work together as a Facts of life “Some people can’t move on, don’t want to move on. We’re not as united. Let me put it this way. We’ve been united for 40 years of not talking about each other, not doing stupid things, you know, not all for one, one for all. And this has kind of destroyed all of that, which is sad. Really sad.”

Cohn declined to reveal the identity of the actor in question. But she suggested the mystery could be solved by verifying his identity. Instagramas Douglas suggested to find out “who she hangs out with and who she doesn't hang out with.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to representatives for Fields, McKeon and Whelchel and will update if any of the actresses decide to respond to the claims.

“I’m not going to deny or confirm,” Cohn concluded. “What’s really sad is that we were talking about earlier, you know, over coffee, is that some people are so desperate for money or fame that it drives them to do things that, to me, I guess, I’m not as jaded yet. It shocks me. It still shocks me a little bit. Are you going to do this for the money, or are you going to do this for the fame? It still scares me a little bit that people would do that. Throw friendships, deep, true friendships, under the bus for a dollar.”
