Man stabbed at Red Line subway station in North Hollywood, suspect still missing
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Police are searching for a suspect after a man was stabbed in the torso at the Metro Red Line station in North Hollywood.
The victim, described as a man in his 40s, was stabbed in the ribs, police said. The incident happened Wednesday afternoon on the steps leading to the Metro buses. The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
The suspect was described as a man about six feet tall, weighing about 180 pounds, wearing a black helmet and shorts and riding a black bicycle.
No information has been given on the victim's condition. The events leading up to the stabbing remain under investigation.
The stabbing comes as Metro officials are paying renewed attention to public safety after a series of high-profile violent incidents on the transit system. The agency plans to create its own police force, rather than relying on outside law enforcement, and take other measures such as cracking down on fare checks to boost security on train and bus lines.
