45-year-old man stabbed near Los Angeles Metro station in North Hollywood

A 45-year-old man was stabbed near the LA Metro station in North Hollywood on Wednesday while the suspect remains at large, police said.

The victim suffered lacerations to his ribs after being stabbed in the stairwell leading to the station, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jader Chaves said. An ambulance was requested for the victim while police searched for the attacker.

The Red Line Metro station is located near the intersection of Chandler Boulevard and Lankershim Boulevard.

Aerial footage taken shortly before 2:30 p.m. shows two fire trucks just outside the station and several police patrol vehicles.

Chaves said the suspect fled on a bicycle and described him as being 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He is believed to be about 30 years old, has short black hair and is wearing a black helmet, a black shirt and shorts with white socks as he drove away from the scene.

Metro thanks the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers, already assigned to the North Hollywood Metro Station, for responding immediately and assisting the victim after an altercation between two passengers resulted in a stabbing outside the station.
