Inside Out 2 Becomes Most Successful Animated Film of All Time

Inside Out 2 has become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, six weeks after its theatrical release.

The film, a sequel to 2015's Inside Out, has so far grossed $1.46 billion ($1.13 billion) at the global box office.

That means it surpassed Frozen II, which grossed $1.45 billion in 2019.

Inside Out 2's total is expected to increase further in the coming weeks, and the film is set to be released in Japan.

The film also surpassed last year's most successful film, Barbie, which grossed $1.45 billion.

However, Inside Out 2 has yet to surpass Disney's 2019 Lion King remake, which grossed $1.65 billion ($1.28 billion).

Technically, The Lion King is computer-generated, but the studio has classified it as a live-action remake, meaning it is not considered an animated film.

Overall, Inside Out 2 is now the 13th highest-grossing film of all time.

It still has a ways to go to catch the films at the top of this list: Avatar ($2.9 billion, $2.2 billion) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion, $2.1 billion).

Approximately $601 million ($466 million) of Inside Out 2's total was earned in the United States, while $861 million ($668 million) was earned in other countries, including $61 million ($47 million) in the United Kingdom.

Inside Out 2 is estimated to have cost around $200 million (€155 million) to make, not including additional costs such as marketing.

Its success marks something of a rebound for Pixar, which has struggled in recent years to reach its previous heights.

However, this is partly due to some films being released directly to streaming services during the pandemic, when many theaters were closed.

Inside Out and its sequel focus on a group of characters, who represent emotions, inside the head of a young girl named Riley.

In the final film, Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger and Fear are joined by new characters such as Anxiety, Envy and Embarrassment as Riley becomes a teenager.
