Iroquois Amphitheatre presents free films in August and September
New programming includes Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Friday the 13th, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and more.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. If you're looking to see a summer movie in a beautiful outdoor venue in Louisville, you're in luck. The Iroquois Amphitheatre is adding more movies to its schedule free summer movie series.
Louisville Parks and Recreation announced the full August and September schedule for the free movie series on Thursday, and some time-honored classics and some newer releases are included in the lineup.
“Our neighbors have really stepped up to our community events, especially our free summer movie series,” said Brian E. Smith, events supervisor at Iroquois Amphitheatre. “Our free summer movie series is an exciting way to spend time with family, friends and neighbors while enjoying new and classic films.”
The August film schedule includes the following dates and titles:
- August 1: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (PG) and Rocky (PG)
- August 8: How to Train Your Dragon 2 (PG) and Blue Beetle (PG)
- August 9: How to Train Your Dragon: The Lost World (PG) and Crazy Rich Asians (PG-13)
- August 15: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (G) and Grease (PG)
- August 16: The Iron Giant (PG) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (PG)
- August 22: Ratatouille (G) and Wonka (PG)
- August 29: Kung FU Panda 4 (PG) and Enter The Dragon (R)
The September film schedule includes the following dates and titles:
- September 5: Frozen (PG) and Sunshine (R)
- September 6: The Peanuts Movie (G) and Ferris Buellers Day Off (PG)
- September 12: The LEGO Movie (PG) and Bride of Frankenstein (NR)
- September 13: Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (G) and Friday the 13th (1980) (R)
- September 19: GMK: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (NR) and Godzilla Minus One (PG-13)
- September 20: Robocop (right) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (right)
- September 26: Cars (G) and Smokey and the Bandit (PG)
- September 27: Cars 3 (G) and Furious 7 (PG-13)
Doors open at 6pm for concessions and door prizes, first movie starts at 7pm. No outside food or beverages permitted.
