Actor and singer Aliff Aziz faces possible prison sentence, Courts & Crime News & Top Stories

Actor and singer Mohamad Aliff Aziz faces possible jail time after being found unsuitable for a mandatory treatment order (MTO).

Offenders with an MTO are required to undergo treatment to remedy their mental condition instead of imprisonment. The court did not mention yesterday why MTO was not recommended to it.

The 29-year-old Singaporean pleaded guilty last month to one count of theft and an unrelated charge of disorderly behavior in public.

It was not his first contact with the law.

In 2014, he was fined $ 2,000 for stealing two cell phones.

In the present case, the court heard that Aliff met Indonesian actress Raja Yunika Perdhana Putri, 32, in her room at the Studio M hotel near Havelock Road around midnight on June 7 last year.

He was there to discuss how she could help him pursue her singing career in Indonesia. Around 1 a.m., Mrs. Raja Yunika went to the second floor of her room to rest, leaving her purse near Aliff.

Before leaving the room, he opened the purse to steal $ 300 and one million rupees (Singapore $ 94) in cash.

She woke up about two hours later and called Aliff after noticing her money was running out. He denied stealing the money and she filed a police report later that day.

Deputy prosecutor Sarah Siaw said Aliff later admitted he stole the cash because “he needed the money”.

He then used the money for food and transportation. He has since performed a full restitution.

In one unrelated case, Aliff was found to be intoxicated under the Orchard Towers Mall Link Bridge around 5:30 a.m. on November 10 last year.

A nearby policeman saw that he was screaming loudly and gesturing at someone.

Sergeant Theodore Lee, 24, told Aliff to calm down and the performer obeyed before walking away, only to do similar acts about an hour later.

This time, Aliff walked over to a nearby cab and hit his bumper. No damage was caused.

He was arrested after having a fight with an acquaintance, the court heard.

Aliff rose to fame in 2007 after winning Malaysian channel Suria’s version of Singapore Idol called Anugerah. He was in the spotlight last year for his divorce from Malaysian singer Bella Astillah and his alleged romantic scandals in Malaysia.

The couple, who married in 2016 and separated in May of last year, are said to have reconciled.

Aliff will be sentenced today.

Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
