New Delhi: The ruling BJP was divided over allegations of drug abuse in Bollywood, with Union Minister Babul Supriyo saying on Tuesday it was extremely unfair to portray the entire film industry as an addict.

His remarks came a day after BJP MP Ravi Kishan said Bollywood had a drug addiction problem.

As in Cricket, not all cricketers were involved, so not all Bollywood is into drugs-NO! It’s really unfair to say it just because IT IS NOT TRUE !! Rather most Bollywood stars R Extremely disciplined: their exercise, diet and studies work hard to be successful (sic), Supriyo said in a tweet.

The looming crisis over Bollywood with Drugs is reminiscent of what happened to cricket during the betting scandal years ago, then the game of cricket won because not everyone was bad – NOW Bollywood & Art will prevail and with Glory bcuz the same reason – Not everyone’s bad AMEN (sic), he said.

Jaya Bachchan bangs Ravi Kishan

Samajwadi Party MK Rajya Sabha and veteran actor Jaya Bachchan criticized Kishan without taking his name, saying some people bite their hand that feeds them.

Just because of a few people you can’t tarnish the image of the whole industry… I was really embarrassed and ashamed that yesterday one of our members from Lok Sabha, which is from the industry, spoke out against it. ‘Film Industry. Too bad. Jis thaali me khaate hain usi me chched karte hainShe said in the Rajya Sabha Tuesday, referring to Kishan’s statement in the Lok Sabha on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament.

Kishan, a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh who is also a popular actor in Bhojpuri films, raised the issue of the drug-related allegations that have emerged against Bollywood in the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Kishan also alleged a “conspiracy” by Pakistan and China to destroy Indian youth. The BJP MP also praised the efforts of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for doing a “good job” in uncovering the drug mafia.

Actor Kangana Ranaut has spoken about the presence of an alleged drug mafia in Bollywood in recent weeks, as part of the investigation into the death of Rajputs.
