NEW DELHI: Producer-director Ramesh Sippy is recent in the Bollywood fraternity’s lineage to support the film industry over drug abuse allegations. Sippy, who produced the critically acclaimed film “Sholay”, said the allegations against Bollywood’s drug link, which is part of the investigation into the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, are incorrect.
The filmmaker said the drug claims against “Bollywood” are false and incorrect. He said he won’t deny that the drugs are not used in industry at all, however, he mentioned, they are used in the same way as everywhere else in the world.
On top of that, Sippy said he does not approve of drug use and that he has never used it himself. He said he was described as if the industry is a scary place where drugs, alcohol and sex are promoted. He confidently said that surely is not the reality.
He added that there may be some who are drug addicts, but to generalize is absolutely wrong. He concluded by saying that just because people wanted to know celebrities, because they are public figures, that’s why the media describes it that way.
Previously, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan gave a Zero Hour Notice to the Upper House for an alleged plot to defame the film industry.

At a time when the situation is depressing and employment is at its worst, so as to hijack the folks attention, we are being whipped by social media, “Jaya said, adding that it was all because the government was not supporting the industry.
She said: “People who have made a name for themselves in the industry have called it a gutter. I totally disagree. I really disassociate myself and hope the government will tell those people who have made their livelihood, their name and their fame in the industry to stop using such language. “
