Some Superstars spend an entire career on one WWE brand or another and develop a fondness for this spectacle. Because he bounces so often from his NXT days, Kevin Owens doesn’t care where he is, provided it gives him a fresh start and the opportunities he’s looking for.
He has changed shows every year since the first draft in 2016 and expects this year to be no exception to the trend.
I can only assume from the past that I will change, he said. It almost gives me a new playground every year and a new group of people to work with. It kind of gives me a reset or a chance to rest, anyway. So far I’m not sure if this is how it works, but every time we come to a draft I feel like I have to be reset every time as a superstar, as a character. , as anything. It still seems to me this year. Owens admitted that every year on Draft Day, he always wants a change of scenery. He never stops starting strong on any show until he becomes a long distance player through no fault of his own. This has been the case with him recently, which is why he’s hoping a move to SmackDown is in the cards.
“I think it’s this chance to hopefully have the opportunity to make a fresh start,” he said. “I don’t know what it’s about me. I feel like I’m giving it my all, I deliver whenever I’m on the air, but for some reason I feel like to always find myself in a situation where I could always use a fresh start after a little while. I still do my best to do that so it always helps to get a new platform. Here I am again a year later , and last year I was so desperate to switch to Raw and I moved to Raw. Now I’m quite desperate to move to SmackDown because for some reason I don’t feel like that things are going well for me on Raw. Maybe it will be better on SmackDown. But at this point last year, I didn’t think things were working for me on SmackDown and I thought maybe Raw was the place.
NXT won’t officially be part of the WWE 2020 Draft, but there is still the possibility that the main roster members will eventually move there themselves. That’s what happened with Finn Balor last year and Ember Moon last Sunday at TakeOver 31, and even Owens spoke at one point about returning to his old playground.
Owens revealed plans were in place for him to return to the Black and Gold brand a year ago, likely around the time he made a one-off appearance in TakeOver: WarGames III, but those plans fell through and now he is no longer interested.
Last year at one point I was going back to NXT, “he said.” Everything was moving and it was going to happen and then it didn’t. To say that this is a thought that crossed my mind would be an understatement, but I would tell you right away that it is no longer the case. This is no longer where I am. Now I want to be on Raw or SmackDown and fight like hell to create memorable moments for everyone. That’s all I want at this point.
