Kim Massie, blues and jazz singer from Saint-Louis, dies

ST. LOUIS Saint-Louis has lost one of his singing legends. Kim Massie is deceased, according to several people close to her.

Massie was a jazz and blues singer whose soulful voice moved thousands of people.

She has performed regularly in the St. Louis area for decades, but stage lights often find her at the now closed Beale on Broadway. Massie was the first person to perform at the blues bar, and on her big final night in January 2019, she was the last to shut it down.

Massie told 5 On Your Side at the time that Beale on Broadway was all for her.

“It’s like I’m getting up and brushing my teeth – I feel really comfortable here,” she says.

She said Beale on Broadway was a home for her.

News of Massies’ passing started to spread online Monday evening, leading local leaders and businesses to share their condolences.
