NASCAR DraftKings Fantasy Driver Ranking: Hollywood Casino 400 in Kansas

The rankings below are based on a mixture of expected production and DraftKings NASCAR wages for that day. Ordering is not based on the highest projected fantasy totals, but rather on the value of each driver. Note: fppk = average fancy points per $ 1,000 salary.

the DraftKings Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Locks at 11:30 a.m. (ET) Sunday. Define your DraftKings Fantastic NASCAR rosters here: NAS $ 175K First row [$50K to 1st] (Chopped off)

1. Martin Truex, Jr. ($ 11,000) – In the July race, Truex had the best car. He ran the fastest laps and led the third most laps en route to third place. Typically, the best car scores over 73 fantasy points, but in Kansas there are various pit strategies that prevent a car from dominating at this race track. (4.4 fppk)

2. Denny Hamlin ($ 10,600) – All of the lead changes in the July race were a direct result of pit decisions. Hamlin took the lead on the pit lane during the breaks in stages 1 and 2. He regained the lead for the last 12 laps as the cars ahead were on older tires. (4.9 fppk)

3. Kevin Harvick ($ 10,400) – Kansas was a bad race for Harvick. He started on pole, but didn’t lead a lap until lap 246, and that was because the cars ahead were on old tires. Nine laps later, Hamlin easily got rid of Harvick. (5.6 fppk)

4. Brad Keselowski ($ 10,100) – Intermediate runs haven’t been great for Keselowski over the past 15 months, but Kansas was an exception. He was excellent on restarts and was able to aggressively defend the lead on older tires. (4.5 fppk)

5. Ryan Blaney ($ 9,700) – Car # 12 tends to be pretty quick on intermediate tracks, but this car also tends to have bad luck. Blaney scored nine points in the quick lap in the July race, but the contact led to an unscheduled pit stop in Stage 3, and he completed the lead lap. (4.1 fppk)

6. Chase Elliott ($ 11,200) – At the start of Stage 3 in Kansas, Elliott took two tires and moved up to first place. It looked like another typical Elliott race where he doesn’t do anything the entire race, but once in the clean air he’s unstoppable. However, this did not happen. From the non-preferred groove, Elliott was forced to block a dive bomb, then was pulled out by another driver, and he became useless again. (4.3 fppk)

7. Ryan Newman ($ 6,500) – When Newman starts outside the top 25, it’s hard to make him go away. It hasn’t been a great year for Newman; he almost died at one point, but he’s still that 15th place regular driver. Newman was 15th in the last two intermediate track races. (3.4 fppk)

8. Joey Logano ($ 9,500) – Before his stage 3 wreck, Logano was a non-factor in this race. Whatever magic he had earlier this season is gone. Logano looked good at the start of the last intermediate track race in Las Vegas, but an incident kept him from taking the lead for most of the race. (3.7 fppk)

9. Kyle Busch ($ 9,900) – After the competition warning, Busch lined up in second place and got a nice push. He then sailed to a stage victory. It was impossible to pass the leader in Kansas unless the leader was at a tire disadvantage. When Busch lost the lead he passed out and made contact with the wall in Stage 3. (3.1 fppk)

10. Erik Jones ($ 8,400) – In the July race he quickly guided his JGR car into the top 10. He spent most of the race in the back half of the top 10. In the last round, several cars hit the wall and hit the wall. Others with old tires, Jones managed to get an easy fifth place. (4.1 fppk)

11. William Byron ($ 9,000) – At the end of the first stage, Byron was the last car in the lead. He has barely crossed the finish line before being overtaken. In Stage 3, Byron played on the pit lane, and the warning came at exactly the right time. Byron had a car in 15th place, but thanks to luck and strategy he led 27 laps in stage 3. (3.7 fppk)

12. Alex Bowman ($ 8,600) – Its finish in Kansas was better than the car deserved, but not much better. Eighth place in a 40-car peloton is not a great achievement. If a Hendrick car doesn’t make a mistake on the pit lane or on a wreck it should earn a top 10 every week. (3.7 fppk)

13. Jimmie Johnson ($ 9,200) – Kansas was not a good race for Hendrick. Byron was lucky for a while, but eventually the race normalized. Johnson had the worst result of any Hendrick car, but that was because he got caught in a wreck on lap 176. He was running in 13th position at the time. (3.6 fppk)

14. Kurt Busch ($ 8,200) – A win is a win, so Kurt Busch deserves credit for winning in Las Vegas. As far as analysis goes, Buschs’ victory makes no sense other than a distraction. Busch was lucky and a debris warning was called while cycling in the pits. He took the lead, and there were not enough green flag laps left for the dominant cars to pursue him. (3.8 fppk)

15. Aric Almirola ($ 8,000) – SHR cars should win the first 10 places. Almirola starts 16th, and if he finishes sixth like he did in July, it’s 50 points. Add a few quick stitches to the lap and it sneaks into the optimal range. (4.2 fppk)

16. Tyler Reddick ($ 7,800) – Kansas is a progressive banked track. Some drivers can find speed off the wall, but most don’t dare take the chance. Several years ago, Larson found speed on the wall, and in the July race, Reddick hiked the wall throughout the race. This is how he made a name for himself. If there are long races with the green flag in this race, Reddick could walk away with a top 5. (4.5 fppk)

17. Clint Bowyer ($ 8,800) – Kansas is the reason it calls for resigning. It’s Bowyers’ home track, but he’s always struggled on the intermediate tracks. With the new high downforce pack his struggles worsened and Bowyer made the right decision to abandon a form of racing that isn’t even racing. (3.8 fppk)

18. John Hunter Nemechek ($ 6,100) – It’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s not really scary. JHN pulled a classic Neme wreck in the final Intermediate Track Race in Las Vegas. It is then that he emits a warning, but benefits from the warning. He finished 20th in Las Vegas. A result like this would be optimal this weekend. (4.1 fppk)

19. Austin Dillon ($ 7,500) – He soared in the playoffs, but at least he reached the second round. His poor performance in the second round was not his fault. A mechanical breakdown in Las Vegas ruined his chances. Dillon has 10 finishes in the top 15 in his last 15 races. (4.3 fppk)

20. Christopher Bell ($ 7,200) – It’s been a season of ups and downs for Bell, but mostly down. Bells’ last top 20 one and a half mile track was in Kentucky in early July. He was seventh in that race, but this track is nothing like Kansas. In the July race in Kansas, Bell was wrecked in Stage 3 when he was in 10th place. (3.4 fppk)
