Earlier this week, California officials announced they would be touring the state’s major theme parks. These tours would help develop plans to reopen theme parks in California, as they have remained closed since mid-March.

A spokesperson for Universal Studios Hollywood said, “We were grateful for the opportunity to share our improved health and safety protocols with state officials, including representatives from GO-Biz and the Department. from California Health earlier this week. We hope this will bring us closer to a positive resolution on behalf of our entire industry.

While Universal Studios Hollywood remains optimistic, Disneyland has not commented publicly on tours through the park.

Newsom was not one of the group that toured the major theme parks, but he did send a team to Walt Disney World last week. They did not disclose the information they gathered, but said they wanted to observe how it is possible to safely reopen the theme parks as we maneuver in COVID-19. While it’s unclear what information they got from either of these sightings, we hope this brings the theme parks closer to reopening safely.
