Many Spider-Man fans recently thought and hoped they would get Spidey’s triple in the second sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Word of the proverbial rumor has reported that the last two Spider-Mans, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, will join Tom Holland in the third standalone Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But it seems that this union is still only the hopes and dreams of the fans. According to Comicbook.com, none of the cast were recruited as an official cast member, and “Sony is sticking to this as unconfirmed information.”
What does it mean? Well, that doesn’t mean Sony has officially debunked the rumor just yet, so with that comes the remaining hope that the three Spider-Mans – or Spider-Men (?) – can reunite.
At Inside the Magic, we recently reported that Dr. Strange has been confirmed to appear in the upcoming MCU Spider-Man movie and fans are speculating that he will be very closely related to the next one. Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. It also suggests that Dr. Strange’s experience in the multiverse could help spark the start of Sony’s planned Spider-verse, similar to what fans saw in the animated feature film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse.However, the size of Strange’s role – played by Benedict Cumberbatch – is still unknown at this time.
In fact, there are very few plot points about the upcoming Spider-Man movie that are actually confirmed at this point. We don’t even know yet how this movie is going to be officially called other than the title it operates under in New York which is called.Serenity now.
What we do know for sure is that this third film is expected to take place after the events ofSpider-Man: Far From Homeas a result of Peter Parker’s fight with Mysterio and his secret identity revealed to the world.
At Inside the Magic, we’ll continue to update our readers as more information about Spider-Man 3 comes to light.
