1. THE ART OF CINEMATICS

When we shot A Room With A View in Florence in 1985 we needed extras with a vintage look and hired a bearded guy called Patrick Hamilton who looked like an Edwardian and taught art in Florence.

He became a friend. He did this sketch of my co-star Helena Bonham Carter and me, which I think is beautiful.

Helena was only 19 at the time. I was 20 and starred in The Killing Fields movie, so I felt like a veteran, but looking back, I was pretty immature.

2. AX MAN

I took this ice ax on the Eiger, Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. I love the mountains and I climb all over the world.

As a boy growing up in Yorkshire my four brothers and I spent time on the rocks and the falls. As we got older, the hills got bigger.

The highest peak I have climbed is Aconcagua in the Andes, at 6962m, and I have also climbed in Antarctica, Greenland and Asia.

3. MY MENTOR

When I was studying theater in London, Derek Jarman [the late director and artist] was a friend and a mentor.

a man standing in the grass: Fashion photographer Dean Isidro and Nicholas Holder, a sales manager at a cybercrime and fraud protection firm, were both technically off the market when they first met, so get to know each other as friends first. A few years later, life brought us together, recalls Nicholas. This time around there was a Nicholass Great Pyrenese / Spanish Mastiff puppy mix to add to the equation. Dean was the first person to watch Luca while I was on a work trip to California, and seconds after meeting her for the first time, she crawled into his arms and fell asleep on his chest, recounts Nicholas. I knew it was over after that! Luca Belle really brought us together in a way that has bonded us ever since, Dean adds. Because they got to know each other platonically before officially releasing, the proposal came pretty quickly. We had been officially dating for a little over a year when Dean asked me to marry him on the last day of 2019, Nicholas recalls. I was certain from the start that it was only a matter of time before I proposed to Nicholas, Dean admits. He fit in so perfectly and stepped in with my New York family in such a nonchalant and effortless way. Nicholas had just returned home after visiting his family in Wisconsin over the Christmas holidays. It was one of those super balmy December days and we decided to take the dog to our favorite beach, The Cut in Bridgehampton, recalls Nicholas. Dean wanted to take a picture of me as the sun was setting. I had my back to her and when I turned around I noticed that Luca was wearing an indigo necklace with beautiful bows and a box. She ran over to me and as I started to open the box a handmade bracelet fell with a pearl spelling, Will you marry me? Once I got over the shock and noticed the ring I immediately started crying and hugging him, I think I forgot to say yes. Before the pandemic, the plan was always to get married where Deans' best friend, LoveShackFancy founder Rebecca Hessel Cohen, married 10 years before her mother and dads in Watermill, New York, surrounded by a apple orchard and centered in a field of wild herbs. . The natural beauty of the property of Rebeccas' mother, Nancys, can only be summed up in two words, romantically enchanting, Nicholas says. When COVID happened, it threw everything into uncertainty. The only thing that was certain at the beginning of May was that we had canceled everything that had been planned and that accommodations had been reserved for family and friends. We spent the summer really in limbo and just trying to be there. We only saw our quarantine poda ka Rebecca and her family get together every now and then for a social distancing dinner or drink. Summer has come and almost gone and it was during one of those dinners in early August that Rebecca really encouraged us to stick to our plan. Love wins, she said, and we need a reason for a little love! So we decided to downsize and bring our pod and our closest friends together for an intimate dinner and formal ceremony. Once the decision was made to go ahead, they had exactly 10 days to organize the wedding. Because making sure their guests were comfortable and bringing people together in the safest way possible was essential, a completely outdoor environment was essential. So much so that four days later, when the weather called for rain, we had to make the decision to postpone the date by one day to August 30, 2020, explains Nicholas. Perhaps not all that surprisingly, everyone got to do it, including the over 75 guests who virtually joined in the celebration. The aesthetic of the flowered clothing was clean, white, simple, and organic. The day before the wedding, however, the mood took a further direction when Rebecca found the perfect dress. She was shopping with her mother, Nancy, in East Hampton when they walked past the Ralph Lauren store and saw this beautiful indigo dress draped over a chair in the window. Dean has always had a passion for indigo dyeing, so it seemed natural to incorporate more of these hues into the aesthetic, Nicholas says. One of the most special moments was watching Dean and Nancy dye vintage lace and LoveShackFancy tablecloth prints indigo to add a whole new depth and layer to the reception table setup. For their own appearance, Nicholas and Dean both had clear but very different ideas about what they wanted to wear for the wedding.

This is one of his paintings, he was like a shaman and the first truly bohemian person I know.

I appeared in a music video he filmed with Marianne Faithfull for his song Broken English. David Bowie didn’t show up so I replaced him, wearing a mask.

4. ROCK STAR

As a boy I would go out with a small geological hammer and a backpack around the Yorkshire Dales looking for fossils that are part of my collection.

I continued to do geology at level A and thought of it as a career.

As a boy, I also spent a lot of time with my late mother, going to museums, galleries and country houses, and I remember the first time I went to the Geological Museum in London with her after seeing Tutankhamun at the British Museum.

I still love looking for fossils as I was in Yorkshire recently for my younger brother Quentins birthday and we went out to see what we could find.

5. BRUSHES WITH PINTER

Harold Pinter was a huge figure to me. I was in a movie of his play The Room with Annie Lennox in 1987, then I replaced him in a recital of his poems in 2005 when he had throat cancer he was sitting in the third row saying the words, which was intimidating.

Then he gave me this signed copy of his biography and a photo of him.

6. FLEX CALL

When my wife Evgenia was pregnant with our daughter Natalya in 1996, she took a yoga class.

I saw the change in her and also embraced yoga. This mat was given to me when I started practicing by our teacher Diane Gysbers, who studied with master BKS Iyengar hes pictured on the heater.

The portrait of me on the left was taken by our youngest daughter Imogen when she was six years old. Shes 20 now but I still hold it dear.

The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
