Reports of America Chavez playing a role inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness began in early 2020. There were rumors that Marvel Studios was looking to bring the ultra-powerful LGBTQ hero to the big screen. Chavez is a fairly recent creation from the comics created by Nick Casey and Nick Dragotta in 2011, but it quickly became a popular character. After months of wondering if she would be in the movie, another report claimed that Marvel was casting a teenage girl who fits Chavez’s description. Marvel has yet to confirm her involvement in the film. movie, but we might know who is playing it. .

Now that there is apparently more evidence to support America Chavez making his MCU debut sooner rather than later, what is the reason for his role inDoctor Strange 2?

Doctor Strange 2 has a multiverse problem

When Marvel Studios first announcedDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it immediately became clear that the Multiverse would be a big part of the Phase 4 story. There have been countless theories as to what motivates the plot of the Multiverse, besides just being about a natural progression of Strange’s story. He dived into the multiverse inDoctor Strange and seen more than 14 million possible futuresAvengers: Infinity War. With the Avengers changing the multiverse on their unique path to victory, the ripple effects of their victory over Thanos could be left to Doctor Strange to clean up.

While the exact story ofDoctor Strange 2 has not been revealed, the title indicates that Strange will have to face chaos across the multiverse. Some have suggested that Scarlet Witch shatters the multiverse byWandaVision, which leads directly to the sequel. At the same time, others believe that the multiverse breakdown could be the result of Strange’s own actions or that the Infinity Stones no longer exist. Either way, the multiverse will be changing, and Doctor Strange will have to face madness as Sorcerer Supreme.

America Chavez’s powers make her perfect for Doctor Strange 2

Despite the many abilities Strange has shown in the MCU, we haven’t seen him travel the multiverse on his own. While it’s reasonable to assume the Sorcerer Supreme could figure this out, traveling through the multiverse is a bit of America Chavez’s thing. One of her defining powers is the ability to create star-shaped portals that allow her to travel through the multiverse. Chavez’s powers aren’t just confined to going to different universes, as she also accidentally traveled back in time.

This set of powers inherently makes America Chavez a natural choice to be in a multiverse story likeDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. A shattered multiverse could explain how Chavez and Strange intersect. Chavez could accidentally end up on Strange’s radar due to her travels in multiple universes, or she could even potentially be linked to the reason for insanity. Either way, having someone with Chavez’s powers will no doubt be helpful in saving the multiverse.

America Chavez is likely from another dimension MCU

Not only can America Chavez travel the multiverse, but she’ll likely be from another dimension if the MCU is even remotely true to her comic book origin. Chavez comes from the utopian parallel, which exists outside of time and the multiverse under the watchfulness of Demiurge (who is the son of Scarlet Witch, Wiccan after becoming an omnipotent being). Chavez grew up in this space for the first six years of his life, until the utopian parallel was endangered. A black hole nearly shifts the utopian parallel to the multiverse, but Chavez’s mothers sacrifice themselves to stop it. America left Utopia soon after to become a hero.

While Marvel Studios has certainly taken some liberties in adapting Marvel’s characters and storylines for the MCU, it’s hard to imagine them not retaining Chavez’s multiverse origin. In fact, it is possible that the MCU version of these events could even be related to the state in which theDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Instead of black holes threatening the utopian parallel and fleeing Chavez as a child, the MCU may see the same threat that shatters the multiverse inDoctor Strange 2 be linked to the threat of Utopia and the sacrifices of American mothers.

Doctor Strange 2 may define America Chavez as a cap replacement

Introduction of America Chavez inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could also be used to set up its unbelievably brilliant future MCU. One potential outcome for her is that she will become the next Captain America after Falcon. Chavez hasn’t officially taken on this role in the comics before, but there was a tease saying it was her fate possible. InThe all new Hawkeye Vol. 2 # 3, a look 30 years into the future shows that Chavez has become Captain America Chavez. She doesn’t have the usual shield, but it’s possible the MCU could take America down that path in the future.

Even if she doesn’t become Captain America, Chavez is expected to be a key part of the MCU’s progression and her debut inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can show how. She will be Marvel’s final stepping stone to building the Young Avengers, which is clearly happening throughout Phase 4. Chavez has also been a regular full member of The Ultimates, a cosmically-oriented group that includes Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and more. Monica Rambeau, Blue Marvel and Galactus. All of this and more is possible with America Chavez, and we can always count on Kevin Feige throwing some surprises into the mix as well.
