Sacha Baron Cohen is back on the road as the Kazakhs favorite journalist in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020, R), a satirical comedy filmed in secret earlier this year with Cohen under the guise of Borat interacting with real US citizens and political figures. For the record, the full title is Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. It debuts directly on Amazon Prime. Lily James stars as the newlywed bride to wealthy recluse widower Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer) in the romantic thriller Rebecca (2020, unrated). Previously brought to the screen by Alfred Hitchcock, this adaptation of Daphné Du Maurier’s novel co-stars Kristin Scott Thomas as the imperious Mrs. Danvers and is directed by Ben Wheatley. And continuing with the remakes, Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spencer star in The Witches (2020, PG), a fantasy by director Robert Zemeckis adapted from Roald Dahl’s children’s novel by screenwriters Kenya Barris (creator of Black-ish) and winner of an Oscar Guillermo Del Toro. Stanley Tucci, Kristin Chenoweth and Chris Rock co-starred with newcomer Jahzir Kadeen Bruno. Originally slated for theaters, it debuts directly on HBO Max. (Thursday)
