Matthew McConaughey’s father died while having sex, actor reveals in new memoir

Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey has revealed that his father, James, died while having sex in 1992, which the latter actually predicted.

The Oscar winner shared his father’s story by releasing an excerpt from his new memoir, Greenlights, as part of its cover story for People last week.

I got a call from my mom. Your father is dead. My knees bent. I couldn’t believe it. It was my father. No one or nothing could kill him. Except mom, the 50-year-old actor said.

Hed always said to me and my brothers boys when I go I’ll make love to your mother. And that’s what happened. He had a heart attack in his prime, he added.

McConaughey was 23 at the time while his father was 63.

While discussing the contents of the books in an interview with People released on October 14, the actor noted that his parents had a tumultuous relationship.

Divorced twice twice and married three times, he revealed his parents were abusive at times, but always chose to end things on a high note.

No matter how ugly a fight or situation got in the tough-guy McConaughey family, the actor said love has always replaced and overtaken the bad times right after.

Now husband and father, McConaughey said he details in the book how his childhood compares and contrasts with his current life.

My mom and my death enjoyed a tumultuous, rocky, big wave relationship very much. I, I can’t remember the last time I raised my voice to Camilla (Alves), he says.

Camilla and I don’t have a relationship like my mom and dad because we have a love that we never question and with our kids we have certain discipline rules for our kids that they understand the expectations of, added McConaughey.
