Eddie Van Halen memorial planned in Pasadena to honor deceased musician

A memorial in honor of Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen is planned in Pasadena, where the band formed almost 50 years ago.

The guitarist died on October 6 at the age of 65, following a long battle with cancer. Many fans paid homage to Eddie at his childhood home in Pasadena and on a street called Allen Avenue where he and his brother Alex carved their band’s name on the sidewalk as teenagers.

The planned memorial is being discussed at a meeting on Monday, October 26. As shown on Blabbermouth, a report on the meeting’s agenda examines a number of possible proposals for the memorial.

The report states: “Since her passing, Pasadena has received several requests and suggestions from the community to do or name something in Van Halen’s [honour] at [recognise] both his local connection to Pasadena, as well as the impact of his art on music.

He continued, “Given the group’s connection to Pasadena and the pride of its hometown expressed by its residents, there have been several requests made to name a street, alley or other monument in its. [honour].

“A curb strip on North Allen near the Van Halen House on Las Lunas Street has served as a makeshift memorial site since his death, helping to spark a larger discussion about a local memorial. Over the past week, staff have considered other potential sites for a memorial, such as changing the name of a street or alley or placing a public monument in an area associated with the late musician.

Tomorrow’s council meeting will discuss the most appropriate type of memorial to honor the late musician.

Earlier this week (October 23), it was revealed that Eddieonce asked Ozzy Osbourne to join Van Halen. the star was fun.

Speaking on the last episode of his SiriusXM radio program Ozzys Boneyard, Osbourne said Van Halen phoned me once, asked if I wanted to sing in his band.

Osbourne was one of many to pay tribute to the musician, calling him a force to be reckoned with.
