Oscar Isaac cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Knight of the Moon

Oscar Isaac reportedly chosen to lead Marvel’s upcoming Disney + seriesMoon knight. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is once again attempting to transition to television through a host of shows on Disney +, all of which will have ties to the movies. The first batch of shows focuses on pre-made MCU characters like Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), but Marvel boss Kevin Feige told D23 last year that there would be also three projects which will present new characters. to the franchise.

NowDeadline reported that Oscar Isaac was in negotiations to star inMoon knightlike Marc Spector, a mercenary with many alter egos who later becomes a conduit for the Egyptian god Khonsu. Marvel has not commented on the casting of Isaac. A production start date has not been set as the studio is still looking for a director. Jeremy Slater (Umbrella Academy) is still attached as editor-in-chief.

Isaac just came out of a run as Poe Dameron in DisneyStar wars trilogy sequel; his jump into the MCU means Isaac now had a hand in two of the biggest franchises going on today. Beyond that, the public will then see him in Denis VilleneuveDune, which was recently delayed from December 2020 to October 2021. By being cast as the MCU’s Marc Spector, Isaac beats fan favorite Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The invisible Man), which many believed to be the “Zac Efron type” Marvel was after.

Nonetheless, Isaac’s cast will likely be excited by fans, especially those who felt his latest foray into the superhero genre (2016’sX-Men: Apocalypse) missed the mark. Isaac is a talented actor who will fit right into the MCU, and it will be exciting to see how his role evolves. Currently, Moon Knight is only slated for his Disney + show, but more projects will follow for sure. As to whenMoon knight could start production, it’s less clear. There were once reports that it would start in November, but it was probably delayed. However, now that the series has found its leader, expect more progress to be made soon.
