Teachers at Lehigh Acres School encourage students with fun videos

Teachers in southwest Florida show their students that we are all #GulfshoreStrong. Teachers at Mirror Lakes Elementary School in Lehigh Acres wanted to make sure their students felt encouraged and loved. Teachers say e-learning has been challenging, but they work best.
We spoke with two elementary school teachers in the mirror about why it is more important than ever before in the wake of a coronavirus pandemic.
When you are used to seeing faces with your students or teachers on a daily basis, it can be difficult when you are at home. Because of this, Mirror Lake teachers thought that they would gather a little something to keep everyone in the mood.
“So, I’m like PBIS coach and I’m in charge of keeping the kids horny and motivated at school, “said Allison Ventura. “So I wanted to do something, because they work from home, which would excite them, so they could see their teachers and let them know that we are missing out.”
More than half of Mirror Lake staff participated in the video message, “We can do it together.” And teachers have sent other videos of themselves at home getting ready.
“I know one teacher looked at it with her students through a zoom meeting and said everyone was crying,” said Kelli Stumps, a second grade teacher.
The video has meant a lot to students who miss seeing their teachers daily.
“My daughter has watched it probably at least 50 times,” Ventura said.
And, for the teachers, it was the perfect choice for me.
“I watched him go down and try to figure out how to help the kids,” Stumps said. “I watched it again and it looked like, ‘OK, now I can do that. It certainly elevates your mood. That.
