Jamie Foxx ‘broken’ after his sister with Down’s syndrome dies at 36

In a Monday post, actor and singer Jamie Foxx announced that his sister, DeOndra Dixon, has passed away at the age of 36.

Foxx wrote that her sister, who had Down syndrome, had made the transition.

My heart is broken into a million pieces … my loving step sister Deondra made the transition … I say in transition because she will always be alive … he said. Anyone who knew my sister … knew she was a shining light …

He added his sister and always went on the dance floor and stole the show, even giving boyfriend Chris Brown a run for his money.

Well I know she’s in Heaven dancing with her wings, he wrote. (Although) my pain is amazing I smile when I think of all the good memories she left for me … my family … and her friends

Deondra you left a hole in my heart … but I will fill it with all the memories you gave me, he added. I love you with every ounce of me … our family is shattered but we will put the pieces back together with your love … and you keep my family in your prayers.

In an interview in 2018, Foxx explained that his younger sister gave her perspective on life.

Dixon had lived with her older brother since graduating from high school in 2002. Prior to her death, she was also a Global Ambassador for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation.

The organization posted a tribute to Dixon on October 25, writing that she had taken life by storm.
