James Lipton Dead: Hollywood stars pay homage to social media

Andy Cohen, Piers Morgan and many others went to social media to remember the late host of "Inside the Actors Studio" on Monday.

Hollywood stars and public figures have come to social media to pay tribute to actor and theater scholar James Lipton, who died on Monday of bladder cancer. He was 93 years old.

Lipton's wife Kedakai Mercedes Lipton made a statement to The Hollywood Reporter after his death: "He lived every day as if it were the last. His job was his passion, he loved what he did and all the people he worked with. He gave people the ways to do their best and I hope his spirit, his curiosity and his passion live on. "

Lipton was best known for his work on Bravo Inside the Actors Studio, which he created to serve as a barely disguised master class for students of the Actors Studio Drama School. Each hour-long program featured a top artist in an intimate interview with Lipton.

Paul Newman being the first guest on the show, Inside the Actors Studio presented nearly 300 subjects who shared the secrets of their craft with Lipton and its student audience. The show has become one of the oldest cable series.

Lipton stopped hosting the show in 2018 when it switched from Bravo to Ovation TV.

"James Lipton was a titan of the film and entertainment industry and had a profound influence on so many people," said Frances Berwick, president of NBCU Lifestyle Networks and home of Bravo, in a statement. "I had the pleasure of working with Jim for 20 years on the first original series of Bravo, his pride and his joy Inside the Actors Studio. We all appreciated and respected his ferocious passion, his contributions to craftsmanship, his in-depth research and his ability to provide the most intimate interviews ever conducted with leading actors across the generations. Andy Cohen, who reacted at Lipton's death on Twitter, Lipton is remembered as "a warm and meticulous man with a great appreciation for the arts and a wicked sense of humor." Cohen added: "He was the face of Bravo who gave us unique interviews with a wide range of superstars. He has always been so nice to me." In a second tweet, Cohen remembers that Lipton invited him to see Diana Ross in concert after learning that he was a fan. "He really cared what he had done. If you had booked for his show, it meant that you had done it and you had the talent to back it up. What a good guy. James Lipton we will fail, "he concluded.

Piers Morgan also went on Twitter to remember Lipton. "I interviewed all the greats, and I did it with so much skill, intelligence and charm. An absolute master of his trade, always as well prepared. His actor favorite? Charlie Chaplin. Why? " He was the best, a genius "", Morgan subtitle a photo of the two of them during an interview.

Melissa Fumero tweeted that she always had "a soft spot for Lipton". "Not only because I'm an actor nerd and I love his show, but especially for the magnificent and comforting praise he gave to the memorial to my teacher / mentor Doug Moston, "wrote the actress.
