Easter fun that comes with the ‘Egg My Yard’ fundraiser | News
Providing safety and precautions, Samantha Call of the Downtown Wagoner Corp. said the organization’s fundraiser, Egg My Yard, will go as planned.
The event is scheduled for April 12.
Call said the organization has been particularly vigilant about coronaviruses this year.
“We will not be in touch with anyone, and we are still working on social distance,” she said. “This is a way to bring a smile to your child’s face while dealing with this rough time. We wanted to have some normality.”
The event, in its fourth year, involves cola citizens buying plastic Easter eggs to fill with candy. It costs $ 25 for 36 eggs, $ 35 for 48 eggs and $ 45 for 64 eggs. The prize egg will cost $ 5.
Orders are taken and eggs are shipped after dark on the night of April 11 in time for the children to wake up on the morning of April 12 to find eggs in their yards.
“We won’t carry anything from yard to yard. We will have Lysol when we go from house to house,” Call said. “We’re not going to do anything to deter people. We don’t think it’s going to affect the fundraising.”
The eggs will be delivered to Porter, Ok, Hulbert, along with Wagoner and the surrounding lake areas.
The money raised goes to Downtown Wagoner Corp.
“It’s a popular fundraiser, and the money we raise goes to future community events,” Call said. “We had 40 orders for eggs last year.”
Call, a Downtown Wagoner board member, is looking forward to this year’s event.
“I saw it being done in other communities and I thought it would work in this area,” she said. “It’s a neat fundraiser. We hope people like it and take advantage of it. We want people to have fun.”
